📖 Synopsis
Li Hyang, a highly skilled seamstress from a prestigious garment factory in Pyongyang, travels to the countryside to volunteer in rice-planting season (monaegi bongsa).
There, she meets Sŏng-sik, a hardworking and talented young man dedicated to the mechanization and modernization of agricultural life in his rural village.
At first, the two clash — Li Hyang is reluctant to consider a future with a country man, while Sŏng-sik holds his own prejudices about city girls. Their initial friction gives way to understanding and affection as misunderstandings are gradually resolved.
In time, Li Hyang returns to the countryside — this time for good. She and Sŏng-sik are reunited, and the story culminates in their marriage, as Li Hyang chooses a new life rooted in the village she once doubted.
